California employment law toolbox.

Three free tools for the California employment-law questions that come up most — classification under AB 5, final-pay timing, and PAGA risk. Built for both employer-side audits and worker-side claim evaluation.

Classification

1099 contractor or W-2 employee?

California's ABC test (Lab. Code § 2775) is the single most-searched employment-law question in the state. Misclassification carries six-figure exposure between back wages, PAGA penalties, and EDD assessments.

Wages and final pay

Compensation timing.

California has the tightest final-pay rules in the country. Lab. Code §§ 201–203 require immediate payment on involuntary termination and impose up to 30 days of wages as a willful-late penalty.

Risk

Wage-and-hour exposure.

PAGA multiplies wage-and-hour exposure dramatically. Most employers facing a PAGA notice don't realize the math until counsel walks through it.
